Villages Against Wisley New Town
Taylor Wimpey has submitted a new hybrid planning application for the proposed new settlement on the site of the former Wisley Airfield in Ockham.
Both East Horsley and West Horsley Parish Councils OBJECT to the proposed development at the former Wisley airfield on the grounds that the harm associated with this development will substantially outweigh the benefits. The Parish Councils have submitted a joint OBJECTION to this application which can be viewed here.

Solar Farm - Blackwell Farm
70+ hectares of greenbelt have already been lost to Surrey University. Now alongside the 1500 house allocation in the Local Plan (+ 300 outside the plan period) an application for 3 solar farms will shortly follow.
Compton Parish and Wanborough Parish Councils support renewable energy but would prefer to see brownfield options considered first. The university has more than 20 hectares of surface-level car parks plus roof space. It also owns land alongside the research park but has opted to install solar panels on Grade 2 agricultural land in the open countryside. The government has stated that there should be a presumption against development of this nature on high value agricultural land and local Parish Councils would like to see this upheld.
